A native Ohioan on loan to Chicago for a graduate degree, Frank Youngwerth crashed into the Second City right as the house scene was beginning to burgeon. An autodidact in the studio, Youngwerth seamlessly combined his vocals, trumpet, and synth work into elegant club-ready tracks. By the early ’90s he had self-produced and self-released five 12"s, mostly distributed by the vital Gherkin label, and also produced the 4th & Bway single “Stay Close” by Mondee Oliver. Youngwerth caught the house wave, exporting his music all over Europe and the United Kingdom, and followed its (temporary) decline with the underperforming (and now widely sought-after) “Whirr” 12" single.
